Holmes House is a residential care home for up to 48 older people, including people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment the service was supporting 43 people. Assessment activity commenced on 28 November 2024 and ended on 2 December 2024. We visited the service on 28 and 29 November 2024. We assessed five quality statements in the safe key question and four quality statements in the well-led key question. This was so we could assess and review the improvements needed identified at our previous assessment in these two key questions. For the key questions effective, caring and responsive we have used the previous assessment ratings to calculate the overall rating. The overall rating has improved from requires improvement to good. Significant progress had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of Regulations of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. Medicines and the environment were now managed safely and people were at a reduced risk of infection. People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse and received kind and compassionate care from staff who knew them well. Known risks to people's health and welfare was effectively monitored. The culture of the service was positive. The provider was open, transparent and involved in the assessment process taking prompt action during and immediately after the assessment to the minor shortfalls we identified in their oversight and quality monitoring of the service.
