Caring
We assessed 1 quality statement in the caring key question. People and relatives told us staff were kind, compassionate and treated people with dignity. During our visit we observed staff being kind and attentive to people.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
People told us that staff were caring. One person said, “They’re always nice to me. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I think they’re great.” A relative told us, “One of the main strengths of the home is that the staff seem to be getting to know my relative, which is reassuring. They are very caring. I see them with other people too. They are there for people.”
Staff and leaders told us they treat people with dignity and respect. The registered manager shared some examples of how staff have supported people in a dignified way.
The local authority provided us with some feedback about the service. The overall view was the staff respected people and treated people in a dignified manner. The local authority had visited the service on a few occasions.
During our visit we observed staff and people’s interactions, Staff were kind and caring towards people. In one case a person became upset, and staff offered reassurance to the person in a compassionate way. Following this interaction the person became calmer and more settled.

Workforce wellbeing and enablement
Staff told us they enjoyed working at the home. All the staff we spoke with told us they felt supported and valued by the managerial team. Staff told us they could raise any concerns and they would be addressed. Staff did not report any concerns about the culture within the home.
The provider had in place team meetings and one to one meeting for staff. The registered manager was viewed by staff as very supportive and approachable. Staff were encouraged to speak up and raise concerns. This meant people would be supported by care workers who were happy in their role and well supported.
