During a routine inspection
Spring Tree Rest Home is a residential care home that was providing personal care to 21 older people at the time of the inspection, some of whom were living with dementia.
The home accommodates up to 30 people in one purpose built building over three floors.
People’s experience of using this service and what we found
People were protected from the risks of ill-treatment and abuse as the staff team had been trained to recognise potential signs of abuse and understood what to do if they suspected wrongdoing.
People received their medicines as prescribed by trained and competent staff.
The provider had assessed the risks to people associated with their care and support. Staff members were knowledgeable about these risks and knew what to do to minimise the potential for harm to people.
People were supported by enough staff who were available to assist them in a timely way. Staff had received training which enabled them to support people effectively.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
People had developed supportive and empowering relationships with those who assisted them.
People had care and support plans which were personal to their individual needs and desires.
People and staff felt Spring Tree Rest Home was well managed and were given opportunities to share feedback about the service. The registered manager and provider undertook regular checks to ensure the quality of care provided was good.

Rating at last inspection
The last rating for this service was good (published 02 April 2020).
Why we inspected:
This inspection was carried out to follow up on action we told the provider to take at the last inspection.
We looked at infection prevention and control measures under the Safe key question. We look at this in all care home inspections even if no concerns or risks have been identified. This is to provide assurance the service can respond to COVID-19 and other infection outbreaks effectively.
Follow up
We will continue to monitor information we receive about the service until we return to visit as per our re-inspection programme. If we receive any concerning information we may inspect sooner.
