Our view of the service

Dimensions Oxfordshire and Warwickshire is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care to people living in 'supported living' settings. The service provides support to people with a learning disability and autism. The assessment started on the 7 February 2024 and finished on 23 May 2024, and was prompted by concerns raised with us. As part of the assessment, we visited 4 houses in Banbury, Kidlington and Oxford and the provider offices. An assessor and 1 inspector completed this assessment. The assessment was completed in line with Right Care Right Support Right Culture. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. People in some houses were not always being supported safely, this had been identified and reported by partners. The provider had responded to the concerns raised by stakeholder partners in relation to 2 homes. The provider had started an improvement schedule at the time of the assessment. We found the required changes were being implemented and on-going regular monitoring of the transition process was being managed by a senior leadership team.

People's experience of this service

People’s experience of the service was mixed. Some relatives told us the service was not supporting people safely or well. They also stated they did not feel management listened or responded to concerns raised with them. However, other relatives told us they were happy with the service provided and their family members were safe and supported well.
