People were fully encouraged to maintain their independence and do as much as they could for themselves. For example, people were supported to prepare and cook meals.

Staff supported people to be independent and encouraged people to do as much as they could for themselves.

We observed people going about their day, doing the things they wanted to do. We saw people were given choices throughout our visit.

The provider actively sought ways to improve and promote people’s independence. For example, 3 ovens had been installed in the kitchen to allow people to cook their meals at the same time. This meant people could all enjoy their cooking experience together even if they wanted different items and reduced any distress as people would not have to wait or take turns in using the appliances.
