During a routine inspection
To help us to understand the experiences people have, we used our Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI) tool when the people were having lunch. The SOFI tool allows us to spend time watching what is going on in a service and helps us to record how people spend their time, the type of support they get and whether they have positive experiences.
People who used the service expressed satisfaction with the care and service that they received. One person told us that they had enjoyed their meal. They said 'I had the steak. It was very tender, I enjoyed it'.
Another person told us that it was all right living at the home, but they wished to get out and about more. They told us that they felt safe living at the home and would be happy to say if they had any concerns. They also told us that they were able to go out and have a cigarette when they wanted to, and the staff helped them with this.
The relative we spoke with during the inspection told us that they were happy with the care provided by all the staff. They said their family member was looking better, and staff were very good at meeting their needs. They told us Abbotsford House was a homely place.
