Our view of the service

Select Choice Community Support Ltd is a domiciliary care service registered to provide personal care to individuals living in their own homes. They offer services to older people and also people with more complex physical needs. The service is registered to support autistic people or people with a learning disability but is not registered as a specialist service. The service worked in line with ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ to make people were treated with respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and had good access to local communities. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. Personal care is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do provide personal care, we also consider any wider social care provided during our assessment.

Date of assessment: 27 January 2025. We gathered information from people who used the service, relatives, both registered managers, care staff, and from health and social care professionals who have worked with the service. We looked at all 34 quality statements.

At this assessment we found people received reliable, timely and effective support from staff who understood their needs well. They built up a good rapport with people and involved them in care planning.

Staff arrived on time, always stayed for the duration of calls and took care to ensure people had everything they needed before they left. They acted professionally and respectfully. They took the time to understand people’s preferences and to act on them.

The service had well established electronic records systems in place. The registered managers had effective oversight of these and was able to use it to monitor and review the service, ensuring any errors were identified and acted on positively.

The registered managers were approachable and supportive of their staff. They worked closely with colleagues and people who used the service to ensure care standards met their expectations.
