Our view of the service
Watford House Residential Home is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 40 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 35 people using the service. At our last inspection we found breaches of the regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, recruitment of staff and the management of the service. At this assessment we found improvements had been made and the provider was now meeting regulations.
People's experience of this service
During the onsite assessment we spoke with 4 people. People felt safe and able to talk with staff if they had any concerns. One person told us, “It feels safe here.” People felt staff knew them well. One person said they had been involved in their care planning and confirmed staff met their needs well, saying “They see to me beautifully.” Everyone we spoke with felt there were enough staff at the service and they were seen quickly. People felt staff had enough training. One person told us, “Staff have had enough training with dementia, I have heard them talking, they are so patient they carry on talking, they are brill.” People confirmed they were happy with the care staff provided in relation to medicines. One person said, “They make sure I get it at the right time, I would forget.” People were happy with how they accessed other services such as the GP in relation to their care needs. Relatives felt the service communicated well and staff were approachable and responsive to any issues raised.
