During a routine inspection
We spent time observing how staff interacted and supported people. We saw that people were actively involved in their local community via attendance at day centres.
We saw that people had been involved in transitions planning in preparation for the home's closure in 2014. We saw that work was in progress to enable people who lived in the home, and others acting on their behalf, to understand the care choices available to them.
We saw that people had recently undergone comprehensive reassessment and care planning in preparation for moving to new accommodation. We saw that people were receiving appropriate care that met their needs and protected their rights.
People told us they felt safe living at Alexandra Road. We saw that the home had sufficient numbers of staff to safeguard the safety and welfare of people.
We saw that the home had a complaints system in place, and that people's comments and complaints were listened to and acted on effectively. Relatives said that they knew how to raise issues with the registered manager and confident that these would be addressed.
