During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection the provider did not have a registered manager in post, although arrangements were in progress.

During our visit we spoke with five members of staff and spoke by telephone with five relatives of people who used the service. Relatives of people who used the service told us that they had been involved in decisions made about their relative's care plan and they were very happy with the care delivered. Comments included, 'They do involve me they are very good at communication'. 'They live up to the title of their profession'.

We saw that risk assessments were completed as part of the care planning process and that care plans documented the needs of each person and described the care and support required. Staff received regular safeguarding vulnerable adult training. We spoke with care support staff and discussed the training they had received to manage equipment used in people's homes. They told us that they had received adequate training and were confident in the safe use of equipment they used to support people.

During a routine inspection

As this inspection focused on the systems and processes of the agency itself, there were

no service users present. However, we saw records of people's feedback to the agency in a variety of formats, including questionnaires, comment logs and individual reviews.

People who use the service had commented positively on the punctuality, attitude and friendliness of carers. Carers were described as "lovely" and "very kind".

During a routine inspection

People told us that care workers generally have a good understanding of their needs, and their preferences for receiving support. Some people told us that there have been language barriers between themselves and some care workers, but that these have generally been resolved through input from the agency and their working out ways of communicating.

Some people told us that care workers do not always do things they way they exactly want things to be done, but that they had 'resigned' themselves to the fact that this was the way was for them, as a recipient of care.

People told us that they do value the support they receive, and are generally very happy with the service.

Staff spoke fondly and respectfully about the people who use the service, as well as the support that they receive from the agency.
