On the day of the inspection there were five people at the home. One person went out for half the day for an appointment and another person went for a walk to the shops. Two people were verbal and three people were non verbal and unable to talk to us about the way they were treated or if they were happy with their care, but we observed that they were relaxed when they were being supported and we observed people either watching the TV, listening to a CD or engaged in an activity in the dining room.
One person at the home told us they were looking forward to visiting the family and that they liked having their nails painted. Another person at the home told they were going to a party that was being held by the provider shortly.
We saw that people were treated with respect and were involved in activities throughout the home. We looked at people's care plans and saw that they were individual to people's needs and used picture format where possible to involve them in the process.
People in the home were safe and staff were knowledgeable in safeguarding the people they cared for and knew how to report abuse.
The provider audited the service regularly and carried out daily checks to ensure the service was operating correctly. Team meetings were held with staff and with people in the home.
