Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 11 June 2024

Stamford Care Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 90 older people some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of the inspection the service was supporting 86 people. This was the first assessment carried out under our single assessment framework. This assessment was unannounced. The assessment was prompted in part due to concerns received from the local authority around staffing, cleanliness of premises, eating and drinking, health and safety and governance. We looked at the following quality statements; learning culture, safeguarding, involving people to manage risks, safe and effective staffing, infection prevention and control, medicines optimisation, delivering evidence-based care and treatment, capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders and governance and assurance. We did not assess all quality statements at this assessment. For those areas we did not assess, we used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate the overall rating. We did not identify breaches of any Regulations during this assessment. We will continue to monitor information we receive about the service, which will help inform when we next assess them.

People's experience of the service

Updated 11 June 2024

People's feedback about the service they received was consistently positive. They were satisfied their care workers had the skills and knowledge to support them, and that the support they received met their needs. People's relatives told us their loved ones were safe and well looked after. A relative told us, “I can't fault them how they look after her, I can visit anytime she seems happy there.” Relatives were kept informed about changes in health or incidents and accidents. If things went wrong the provider was open and honest with people and their families and worked to put things right and prevent them happening again, action was taken to seek medical support when required.
