When we visited Tewkesbury Care Home we spoke a few people who used the service. We found that people were able to express their views and had been involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. People told us that the staff always respected their privacy and dignity when they assisted them with personal care. We found that care and treatment had been planned and delivered in a way that met with the essential standards. People told us they received 'good care', it was 'very good and I shower every day', which was their choice. 'I like being waited on'; 'the nurses really look after you' and it's 'very interesting here'. People told us that the food was 'very nice' and they had a good choice of meals. A relative told us that they were 'very happy with the care here, it is a lovely place'.
We found that people who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse. People who used the service told us they felt safe and they were aware of how to complain. People we spoke with told us that if they raised a concern they felt it would be listened to.
People told us that they received a good standard of care from the staff who worked for the service. They told us that 'staff are faultless, no complaints at all', 'very nice, very caring and polite, we have a laugh', 'very polite, nothing is too much trouble'. We found that people were cared for by staff that were supported to deliver care and treatment to an appropriate standard.
People who used the service were asked for their views about the care and treatment provided. We found that the service had an audit system in place for monitoring the quality of the service.
