During a routine inspection
The home had a comprehensive schedule of activities and entertainment which was specifically taylored towards people with dementia. Many of the activities were sensory based enabling people of all abilities to benefit from the experience.
People’s care was planned and delivered in accordance with their individual needs. People’s needs were assessed regularly to ensure that care plans and risk assessments within their care records remained relevant and effective. A relative of a person who used the service said, “We have been involved all the way. There are regular meetings and they (staff) ring if there are any problems”.
At the time of the inspection the home was clean and bright. Domestic staff were evident in all areas of the home. Systems were in place to prevent and control infection.
The provider had systems which ensured only people of good character with appropriate skills, ability and experience were employed. A member of staff told us, “I had to get references and bring my ID (Identification documents) in. It was very thorough”.
The provider had a complaints policy and procedure. Staff knew how to assist people to complain. Complaints were recorded, analysed and responded to.
