During a routine inspection
We saw that all of the staff at the home treated people with warmth and kindness. A visitor told us, 'Our relative is very happy here, they are looked after really well'.
The people who use the service were involved in influencing the care and welfare they received. Care was planned and designed to meet the individual health and welfare needs of the people who used the service.
We saw that the provider had made suitable arrangements to ensure that people living at the home were safeguarded against the risk of abuse.
We found the premises unsuitable to meet the care and wellbeing of the people who use the service because the property and surrounding grounds were poorly maintained and some parts were unsafe.
We found there were not enough skilled, qualified and competent staff on duty to provide people with the care they required to meet their individual needs.
The provider did not regularly monitor the quality of the service provided and introduce changes when required. Quality audits were not followed up as planned.
The provider told us they intended to close the care home in January 2013.
