During a routine inspection
Care and support was planned in a way that ensured people's safety and welfare. One person said "I like baking and I can do that here with the staff helping me, they always make you feel special and safe."
All staff were subject to appropriate checks and references were taken up prior to commencement of employment. Staff were trained to be able to deliver the care and support required by individuals. One person said "I can see that the staff are well trained by the support that they give to my daughter we are so happy with the service."
We spoke to the manager, project leader, staff and people who use the service as well as people who use services relatives by telephone. Comments we received were all positive and included "The Garth provides me with everything that I need."
Staff spoken to had a good awareness of the individuals care and support needs and the importance of treating people with respect and dignity. This was confirmed by the training provided by the provider around respect and dignity and by talking to people who use services. One person said "The staff are very kind and they give me lots of time when they sit and listen to me."
