During an inspection looking at part of the service
Overall, we found that the handling of medicines had improved since the last inspection and they were managed in a safe way.
Overall, we found that the handling of medicines had improved since the last inspection and they were managed in a safe way.
The service provided safe and appropriate care because individual needs were established before people started using the service. People told us that they felt safe and comfortable at Campbell Court.
We found that that there were sufficient numbers of suitably qualified and skilled staff to meet the needs of people who use the service and the manager had systems in place to regularly check the quality of the care and people were consulted about the care they received. One person told us 'I have nothing to complain about'.
We spoke with three people about the support they received to take their medicines. They all said that they received the help they needed and that care workers were kind and supportive. One person said "The staff are great with my medicines and help me with my eye drops each night." Another person said "The staff know what they are doing with my medicines and I don't run out of supplies". Overall, we found medicines were not always handled safely and improvements are needed.
One person told us that they had no complaints about the service. They also told us that they received breakfast in bed which they specifically liked and they had no missed calls. The other person told us that 'you couldn't beat the girls' (who looked after them) and 'they treat you nice'.
One relative told us that staff were very helpful. Another relative told us that their sister loved living in Campbell Court, 'the girls (staff) are friendly'. They also told us that staff take their relative to the local supermarket shopping when she needs it.
We found that the relevant consent had been obtained from people before their care commenced. We also found that people experienced the correct care and support.
We found that people were protected from the risk of abuse and also the correct procedures were in place to recruit staff and pre employment checks were carried out. We looked at records and found that these were accurate and kept securely.
A visiting relative told us, 'It's very good, there's very little to complain about. The staff are very good, very focused on the customer'.
A visiting professional told us, 'It's an ideal place'.
