Warmere Court is one of a group of homes owned by a national provider, Shaw Healthcare Limited. It is a residential care home providing nursing and/or personal care for up to 40 people with a variety of care needs, such as frailty of old age and dementia. At the time of the inspection, 34 people were living at the home. At the last inspection undertaken on 16 July 2019, we found the provider in breach of Regulation 12 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, Safe care and treatment. At this assessment, significant improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of Regulation 12. Please see overall summary for Safe. At the last inspection, we found the provider in breach of Regulation 17 of the Health and Social Care Act 2004 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, Good governance. At this assessment, improvements had been made and the breach of Regulation 17 had been met. Please see overall summary for Well Led. A learning culture was embedded into the culture of the home. Any safety concerns identified or concerns raised by people were investigated and reported thoroughly. Examples were used as reflective practice for staff at staff meetings. People received safe care and support from staff who knew their identified and assessed risks. The service had robust safeguarding systems in place which ensured people were protected from the risk of abuse or harm. People were involved in all aspects of their care and understood any potential risks that might impact on their safety. Staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible. Audits were maintained to monitor the safety of the environment. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet people’s assessed needs, and staff were recruited safely. The home was very clean and there were no unpleasant smells or malodours. Medicines were ordered, stored, administered and disposed of safely.
