During a routine inspection
On the day of the inspection, we spoke with seven of the thirteen people who were staying at Chy Colum. People were very positive about the care and support they received. Comments we received included 'I can't fault anything,' 'I have only been here a few days, but I have felt welcome'it is a brilliant place'people are mutually supportive.' Nobody we spoke with made any negative comments or had any complaints.
The people we spoke with were satisfied with the accommodation and the food. People said that staff were supportive and responsive to their needs.
The home was furnished and decorated to a good standard. Health and safety standards were adequate although some additional work was required. Staff training was adequate although for some staff there were gaps in the training they should have received.
