Our view of the service
Buckingham House is a nursing home providing accommodation and personal care to people aged 18 and over. As part of our assessment activity, we undertook an unannounced on-site visit on 13 February 2024. At the time of our assessment 27 people were using the service. At our last inspection, this home was rated inadequate. We had identified breaches in relation to safeguarding people from abuse, person centred care, management of risks, safe premises and management and governance of the service. As a result of those breaches, we imposed a condition to restrict admissions to the home. This assessment was to follow up on the action the provider has taken following our last visit. We assessed a total of 22 quality statements across all 5 key questions. At this assessment we found the provider had made the necessary improvements and was no longer in breach of any regulations. We have therefore removed the condition from the registration of the home so the provider can now arrange admissions. Staff now assessed and mitigated risks. Care plans now guided safe practice. The provider now had enough staff to ensure people’s safety and meet their needs. People were now supported to have choice and control and were involved in planning their care. Although we found good practice at this assessment, until we have assessed more quality statements in caring and responsive, the rating for those key questions remains the same.
