During a routine inspection
We viewed records held at the office. Sometime it was difficult to establish when reviews had been held and care plans updated. We visited one person at home and their file was up to date with clear assessments and care plan. All diary sheets were completed with date, times and staff signature. Every person we spoke with was very happy with the care they received. One person told us that the care was '250% better than when in hospital and in a care home'. Another person said that the service is 'excellent, we are very lucky the carers we get are first class'.
All staff were very aware of signs to look for that could suggest that someone was being abused and very clear about what action to take if they suspected abuse. We were given examples by two staff of times they had reported abuse.
Staff told us that they felt well supported and had access to training they needed but there was inconsistency in staff reporting frequency of supervision and appraisals. Staff files we viewed also reflected this inconsistency.
The organisation has processes in place for monitoring the quality of the service they provide and quality of care was a very important issue for staff we spoke with.
