During a themed inspection looking at Dignity and Nutrition
The inspection team was led by a CQC inspector joined by an 'expert by experience' who has had experience of using services and who can provide that perspective.
We spoke with 12 people during our inspection who told us that overall they were 'Very happy' with the service they received. One person said they 'Wanted for nothing' living in Place Court, and that, 'It is superb and I am thoroughly spoilt'. One person commented, 'I get what I want and when I want it'. Other comments included, 'We want for nothing' and 'I made a very good choice to come here, its home from home' and 'I would recommend it to anyone'. One person told us that their health had improved since they had moved into the service and that they had access to the GP when they needed it.
One person told us that they chose to stay in their room, and commented living at Place Court is like living in a 'Five star hotel' and that, 'Staff will do whatever you want, when you want, you only have to ring the bell'.
One person told us that, 'Since I've been here, I've never been hungry'. They said that the breakfasts were good and that, 'I can have cereal and a cooked breakfast, if I want'. One person told us that 'I like to choose where I eat; I have my breakfast in the dining room and then the rest of meals in my room'.
We also spoke with four relatives of people using the service. One Relative told us that they felt their spouse was well looked after and received all the help and support they needed. One relative told us they were, 'Very happy' with the care of their spouse and that when ever they visited they always looked well. They told us that if anything was wrong, 'Staff sorted things out very quickly'.
We found that there was a good atmosphere in Place Court and that there was a real sense of inclusion between people using the staff, visitors and staff. It was clear from our discussions with people using the service and our observations that staff knew the needs of the people in their care well and showed genuine care and affection towards them.
