During a routine inspection

We telephoned a sample of shared lives carers and people who used the service. Everybody spoke positively about the service provided. Some people commented that due to internal changes, all the staff at the shared lives scheme were comparatively new. This had created a period where the scheme was experienced as less proactive in contacting them than before. This was not presented as significantly problematic, as the scheme always responded positively when contacted by shared lives carers.

Apart from the observation made above people told us it was a "fantastic scheme". It was also described as "excellent" and one person said they were "more than happy" with the service.

No other concerns were expressed to us about the shared lives scheme. People felt the users of the service were safe, there was always somebody available to talk to, everybody had a written care plan, and complaints would be taken seriously and addressed.
