People received personal care and support in line with good practice and evidence based guidance. The provider's policies and processes were underpinned by national guidance and legislation. Staff had received appropriate training to interact and support people with a learning disability and autistic people. They encouraged people to make choices and be involved in decisions about their care.

Delivering evidence-based care and treatment

People's relatives were positive about the support and care their family member received. They provided examples of how their family member's life and well-being had improved such as being supported to attend activities which were important to the person. One relative said, “I have no concerns about [name] being isolated. She is really settled.” People were supported to maintain regular contact with their families and people who were important to them.

Staff spoke positively about the people they supported. They provided examples of how they supported people to live a life of their choice such as going out in the community and visiting charity shops. Staff supported people to have a healthy diet. Through communication aids, staff helped people to understand the benefits of activities and having a balanced approach of eating healthy foods. Staff explained how they monitored people's wellbeing and helped people to understand changes in their routine such as using social stories. There was evidence of meetings and professional reviews in the best interest of people.

Staff and managers were clear about their role and supporting people in line with national and best evidence-based guidance. The provider’s policies and protocols referenced relevant legislation and national guidance when supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people. This supported the provider’s vision and approach to support people to live a fulfilled life and have equal access to health and social care services. People had separated tenancy and care provision agreements in place which provided best practice when supporting people in supported living settings. Easy read documents were available to help people understand their care and housing arrangements. Systems were in place to ensure people’s rights and care were regularly reviewed. People’s care records demonstrated that care was designed around their needs, views and things that were important to them. There was evidence that advocates and representatives of people were involved in decision about their care and ensured people’s views and wishes were being upheld and maintained in their best interest.
