We carried out this on-site unannounced assessment on 7 August 2024. We found the practice had met all regulations. We found shortfalls in appropriately assessing and mitigating risks in relation fire safety management, equipment and premises, radiation, hazardous substances, infection prevention and control and waste management. All of these were acted on immediately. Staff recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Sterilisation of dental instrument procedures followed published guidance. The practice is in Tavistock and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 4 dentists, 4 dental nurses, 2 dental hygienists, 1 dental hygiene therapist, 1 interim practice manager (who was also a nurse), 3 receptionists and a registered manager. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 1 trainee dental nurse, 1dental hygienist, 1 receptionist, the practice manager and the registered manager.
