During a routine inspection
Patients told us they had been visiting the practice for a number of years and knew and trusted the staff. One patient said "I'm dreading if X ever retires. I don't want to go to anyone else." They said dentists explained treatment options to them in a way they could understand and fully explained the various costs involved.
We saw the provider sought consent for treatment appropriately. Records and documentation for patients who use the service were up-to-date and appropriately stored. Medical and dental information was accurately documented.
We found the practice to be clean and satisfactorily maintained. Staff followed effective infection control procedures.
The practice had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that patients received. During our visit we saw evidence that the practice was undertaking regular audits.
Staff told us they felt well supported by management and were offered appropriate training at regular intervals. Staff attended regular practice meetings and were appraised twice yearly.
