During a routine inspection
The dental team consisted of four dentists, a hygienist, six dental nurses and one practice manager. All the staff were registered with the General Dental Council.
We found that people were informed of their treatment options and consent for treatment was obtained. One person who used the service said, “My tooth fell out and the dentist told me I had an option of a plate or bridge and told me how much this would cost.”
Dental records provided good information about what treatment the person had received and the frequency of follow up visits.
We found that the decontamination process for dental instruments was satisfactory.
Staff recruitment practices were not entirely robust to ensure the suitability of staff who worked there but one person who used the service said, “The staff are all very friendly.”
People who used the service had access to the practice’s complaints procedure and could be confident that their concerns would be acted on.
