Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. One patient said, “The dentist I see is always great, very gentle and offers the best advice for care plans.” Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected. One patient told us, “I have always had a great experience with this dentist, they make you feel comfortable, safe and at ease. The care is always amazing, especially if you are a nervous patient.” Another patient who had been at the practice for more than 10 years, told us, “They have built up a relationship with me which makes me feel comfortable and that I can trust them.” We reviewed patient feedback which had been collected by the practice. Comments included, “I am a nervous patient and was relieved that the dentist was sympathetic and patient.” Another patient said, “Highly recommend. Always friendly and professional. Each step is explained in a way you can understand. I have always received excellent treatment.”

Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles. One staff member told us, “I feel happy and lucky to be around such nice people.” Another staff member said, “I have received a lot of support, encouragement and training from my colleagues.” Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff. There was an open-door policy, and staff could easily discuss any concerns with the principal dentist or the practice manager.
