26 June 2014
During an inspection looking at part of the service
When we inspected again on 26 June 2014, we noted that a new oxygen cylinder had been purchased and that it was regularly checked. The action taken by the provider was sufficient to comply with the requirements of the regulation.
When we inspected in January 2014, staff were unaware of certain elements of Department of Health (DH) infection control guidance. In addition, activities relating to the provider's last legionella risk assessment had not taken place. This meant that the provider was failing to comply with the requirements of Regulation 12 (1) (a) (b) (c) (2) (a) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010. We asked the provider to take action.
When we inspected again in June, we noted that an infection control audit had recently taken place and that staff demonstrated knowledge and understanding of DH infection control/prevention guidance. A legionella risk assessment had also recently taken place. The action taken by the provider was sufficient to comply with the requirements of the regulation.
