This inspection was carried out on the 30 March 2016 by a CQC health and justice inspector who had access to remote specialist advice.
HMP Lowdham Grange is a category B prison that holds around 900 men. Time for Teeth LTD provides dental services to prisoners. The location is registered to provide the regulated activities diagnostic and screening procedures, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury.
CQC inspected the service in partnership with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons between 22 June and 25 June 2015. A joint report between the Care Quality Commission and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons was produced. This report can be found by accessing the following website: http://www.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/hmiprisons/inspections/
As a result of this inspection we asked the provider to make improvements regarding the following areas:
- Medicines management
- Infection control
These constituted breaches of Regulation 12 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and a requirement notice was issued. We checked these areas during this focussed inspection and found that appropriate action had been taken.
