During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 30 July 2024. We found the practice had met the regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks and recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Excel Dental Care is in the London Borough of Barnet and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 1 principal dentist, 1 associate dentist, 3 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist who was also a dental therapist, and 1 receptionist, who was also a trained dental nurse. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, 1 dental nurse, the dental therapist and the receptionist.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two patients. They told us,'It was always clean.' and 'They are efficient and thorough.'

We found good organisation and implementation of guidelines in a friendly efficient environment. There was a willingness to want to improve and build on the teamwork and communication we observed.
