During a themed inspection looking at Offender Healthcare
We received consistently positive feedback from people about their experiences of using the healthcare service. People told us that they were, 'Made welcome [by healthcare staff]" and that they felt, 'Looked after.'
We observed very positive and sensitive interactions between healthcare staff and their patients that demonstrated sound clinical practice. The records maintained about people's health were of good quality and they were managed securely to protect confidentiality.
People had timely access to healthcare professionals and to the medicines prescribed for them. They received effective support from staff to enable them to take responsibility for their health and medicines in preparation for their release from prison.
The provider's arrangements for supporting staff and monitoring the quality of the healthcare service were effective. However, whilst overall medicines were managed safely, some of the arrangements to manage the risks associated with medicines required review.
