Our view of the service

Date of assessment 16 May to 30 May 2024. Acorn Meadow is a care home providing accommodation and personal care to a maximum of 48 people including people living with dementia and mental health needs. There were 46 people living at the service when we visited. The service had a manager registered with the Care Quality Commission. This means they and the provider are legally responsible for how the service is run and for the quality and safety of the care provided. This assessment was prompted by information we held about this service. We assessed 7 quality statements under the Safe, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led key questions and have combined the scores from these areas with scores from the last inspection. There were systems in place to keep people safe and there was an open and transparent culture. However, aspects of recording and review in relation to risk management needed to be more robust in some cases. Systems were in place to ensure there were suitably qualified, skilled, and experienced staff and safe recruitment practices were followed. However, managers would benefit from further support with aspects of recording within electronic systems. Whilst staff felt supported and liaised regularly with managers, they had not all received supervision in line with the provider’s policy. Actions were in progress to address this. Overall, the provider had effective systems in place to monitor the quality of the service and had already identified the areas we found which needed improvement.
