Our view of the service
Date of the assessment: 09 May 2024. Northwood Nursing and Residential Care is a residential care home providing accommodation and nursing care for up to 27 people in one adapted building, with bedrooms over 3 floors. At the time of the inspection there were 27 people living at the service. We decided to assess parts of the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. We found that the provider continues to be in breach of regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment) related to medicines. The provider is required to provide an action plan to assure us what they will do to make necessary improvements at the service. The provider now assessed and mitigated risks related to the environment, storage of thickeners and accident and incidents.
People's experience of this service
People living in the home told us they were happy with the care they received. The registered manager and staff promoted positive risk taking to help people gain skills and live an independent life as possible. Systems were in place to carry out structured assessments for people to live at Northwood Nursing and Residential Care. One person commented, “I love it here. All the staff are kind to me and treat me with respect”. Relatives told us they felt welcome visiting the home at any time. One relative told us, “Staff are lovely with [family member]. They [staff] jump through hoops for her.”
