During a routine inspection
We observed staff interaction with people and found staff be cheerful, caring and respectful.
We found that arrangements were in place to ensure the dignity, privacy and independence of people using the service.
A review of care plans showed evidence that people had expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and support. One person told us, 'They asked about my preferences and seemed to accept them'.
Regarding the standards of care provided, one person told us 'I am very well looked after. My relatives don't have to worry'. A relative told us, 'sometimes the care is a bit rushed but all the staff are busy'.
As a result of the policies we reviewed and staff training we found that arrangements were in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies.
People we spoke with told us that they felt secure in the service. One person said, 'I don't feel worried about my safety at all. Everyone's been lovely".
In general we found that staffing levels were adequate though some relatives thought more staff were required in the afternoon. We found that staff were properly trained and their professional development was being managed appropriately.
We found an effective complaints system to be in place. One person told us,'If I had a complaint I'd go straight to the manager or deputy. They want us to be happy'.
