During a routine inspection

We spoke with nine people who use the service. Everyone told us they were happy with the service. For example, one person said, 'the care is brilliant, I couldn't ask for better.' Another person said of their carer, 'we're good together.' They told us that care staff usually came on time. People told us that care staff asked them how they liked care to be provided. However, we found that many care plans and assessments of risks to people had not been reviewed or updated for more than a year. This meant there was a risk that the personal care provided was not meeting their needs.

New staff received appropriate training and support to enable them to deliver the care to people that they needed. However, some staff had not undergone refresher training in areas related to the safety of people for several years. Not all staff had received regular individual supervision from a manager. The provider had not ensured that staff were appropriately supported to deliver care and support to people and there was a risk they did not have the skills required to provide care safely.

Staff demonstrated the knowledge and skills needed to protect people from abuse although some staff had not had refresher training in this area and in line with the providers policy and procedure for more than two years. The provider monitored the quality of service provided and had identified the shortfalls in the service that we found and had a plan in place to address these.
