All Inspections

10 December 2013

During a routine inspection

We found people's needs were assessed and care was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. Care plans were in place which set out how the service would meet the assessed needs of people, for example in relation to managing dependency. One person said 'I'm absolutely involved in my care, I'm coming up for a review and my keyworker is involved also.'

People had access to health care professionals including GP's and mental health services. There were appropriate systems in place to protect people from potential abuse. We found that the service had systems to prevent and control the spread of infection and that staff had an awareness of their responsibilities in relation to this.

We found care was provided in an environment that was suitably designed and adequately maintained. Various health and safety checks were carried out, such as checks on the fire alarms and gas and electrical appliances to make sure the premises were safe. The service had a complaints procedure in place. This was provided in a format that met people's needs. We were told that no complaints had been received by the service in the past year.

21 December 2012

During a routine inspection

On the day of our inspection there were a number of the rooms in use, giving educational talks or self help groups or one to one sessions. There were also rooms that allowed for private consultation. Staff said that they were well trained and supported by the provider to care for people and meet their needs and that dignity and respect was an important part of how care was delivered. There were enough staff at the time of inspection to ensure that people's needs were met and if an emergency arose the staffing levels were sufficient to enable staff to take timely action.

We saw that people's care files included a care plan which showed they were involved in how their care was delivered and given choices about their care. Some of the care plans were written by the service user themselves which demonstrated patient centred care. The notes of people who use the service were correctly stored in locked filing cabinets and access restricted to relevant care providers.

There were safeguarding procedures in place and staff were aware of how to the report and escalate any concerns. The service had quality assurance and monitoring arrangements in place and the service had implemented changes where appropriate. All reasonable measures had been taken to allow for disabled persons access.

There were recruitment systems and processes in place including pre-employment checks. .
