The overall rating for this key question remains requires improvement based on the findings at the last inspection. However, we found the service was well led for the quality statements we assessed. There was a clear management structure in place and the registered manager was well-supported. There were clear lines of responsibility and accountability designated to staff. The home had good working relationships with other professionals and partner agencies. There was a range of audit tools in place to aid oversight and management of service, and systems to ensure learning and improvement.

Governance, management and sustainability

Staff spoke positively about how the home was run and felt well-supported in their roles. A member of staff told us, “Management staff are incredible, level headed. Any problems, I could go to her”. Staff understood the responsibilities of their own, and others’ roles. They knew when and where to escalate concerns.

There was a range of quality assurance tools available to the registered manager to assist with monitoring and oversight of the service. Audits were completed at regular intervals, and we saw evidence of where action had been taken in order to rectify an issue that had been picked up during this process. The staff team understood their roles and responsibilities and knew when to escalate things to the next level. A member of staff told us, “If I had any concerns, I would talk to the deputy manager or the registered manager”. We saw a business continuity plan which accounted for possible disruptions and specified measures to minimise adverse impact on people.
