Date of Assessment: 14 January 2025. The service is a residential care home providing support for up to 70 older and younger adults, people with physical disabilities and people living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 67 people using the service. At our last inspection we found improvement was needed and the service was in breach of legal regulations in relation to good governance for failure to identify concerns around medicines and people’s care records. At this inspection we found improvements had been made but had not been sustained and the service remained in breach of legal regulations. People did not always receive their medicines as prescribed. Staff did not always follow the provider’s policies to ensure medicines were always administered safely. Quality assurance systems were not always effective in identifying and addressing areas of improvement. People were kept safe, but care plans did not always provide personalised information around people’s specific needs. The provider was responsive to the assessment findings and provided assurances they would make the required changes to improve the quality and safety of care, including actions to mitigate immediate risks. Staff received sufficient training and guidance to meet people’s needs. There were adequate staff deployed to meet people’s needs and keep them safe. Staff were respectful, kind and caring in their approaches, and consulted with people to offer choices and encourage decision making. People were supported to maintain their emotional and physical health and wellbeing within a purpose-built, high-quality environment. Staff described the service positively and felt the culture was supportive. Leaders engaged well with people, staff and other agencies to support people to achieve the best possible outcomes from their care. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
