Date of Assessment: 14 January 2025 to 29 January 2025. The service is a care at home service providing personal care. At the time of our assessment there were 22 people using the service. At this assessment we looked at the key questions of Safe, Responsive and Well led. We carried out the assessment to follow up some concerns we had received and to check if the provider had continued to embed systems and practices to improve the service. At this inspection we found improvements had not been sustained and further improvement was required. We found breaches of regulation relating to safe care and treatment and governance. This means the service needs to make improvements in these areas. We will request an action plan from the provider to understand what they will do to improve standards of quality and safety. We will continue to monitor information we receive about the service.

People and relatives were not always happy with the support provided. They told us new staff did not always know what to do and were not always inducted effectively. Some relatives felt staff were not trained in dementia care and did not understand how to support people who were living with dementia. This had led to people missing their medicines. One relative said, “We are happy with some of the staff, others not. It would be a lot better if staff were dementia trained.” Some relatives mentioned their family member had experienced missed calls and then they [relative] have had to go and attend to their family members. Most people and relatives told us staff wore personal protective equipment such as gloves and aprons. However, 1 relative said, “Used disposable gloves have been dropped all over the pathway and road outside the property which isn’t acceptable.” People and relatives told us they experienced difficulty contacting the office, but when they spoke to the management team, they were always polite and accommodating. People and relatives told us they had not been given the opportunity to give feedback about the service.
