Our view of the service
The assessment began on 1 May 2024 and ended on 6 May 2024. We undertook the assessment as the service had not been inspected since it was registered with us in 2019. There was a good, positive culture across the service where people felt safe and protected from the risk of harm and abuse as staff knew how to recognise and report concerns. People’s risks were managed well by staff who had been recruited in a safe way and had received relevant and appropriate training. People had their health needs met and health and social care professionals were consulted where necessary to improve outcomes for people. The home was clean, and processes were in place to support good infection control. Staff understood the importance of consent and empowered people to be involved in their own care and to make their own decisions based on their individual preferences and wishes. There were meaningful activities taking place for people and the management team were passionate about ensuring people received compassionate and dignified end of life care. The management team were visible across the service and supported staff with their professional development to ensure people received good, effective high quality care. However, there were some minor improvements required to how people’s medicines were managed along with some aspects around the governance of the service.
