Our view of the service
Date of assessment 9 to 28 May 2024. We carried out an unannounced visit on 9 May and another announced visit on 28 May 2024. Rendlesham Care Centre is a purpose-built care home. It is registered to support 60 people. At the time of our inspection there were 56 people living in the service. We carried out this assessment in response to indications of risk. We found that the service was keeping people safe and were proactive in involving people in managing risks relating to their own care. People were supported to be as independent as they were able. People were happy with their care and staff felt supported in their roles. Staff were well trained and competent in their roles. We received mixed feedback from people and staff as to whether there were enough staff. There were actions in place to address these staffing concerns. Care plans described the care people required. However, these could be further developed with people’s life history particularly for those living with dementia. We observed staff were attentive to people’s needs and supported people safely. We identified some concerns with infection control measures on our first visit, but these had been remedied by our second visit. Changes to staff had resulted in an impact to some processes as the new registered manager established and embedded different ways of working. The service had a clear vision and plan for improvements and demonstrated an enthusiasm to learn.
