Our view of the service
We carried out an assessment on 13 February 2024 of Ardent Residential Care Home which is a ‘care home’ that provides care and support to older people some living with dementia. We found there were risks associated with poor maintenance of the premises and that people did not always receive care that met their preferences. We found breaches of the regulations related to Good Governance, Premises and equipment and Person centred care. The rating for this service is requires improvement. People in this care home receive accommodation for personal care without nursing. The service accommodates 23 people in one adapted building. At the time of the inspection 15 people were living at Ardent Residential Care Home. We looked at 11 quality statements; Safeguarding; Safe and effective staffing; Involving people to manage risk; Infection, prevention and control; Safe environments, medicine optimization; Monitoring and improving outcomes; Supporting people to live healthier lives, Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders; Partnership and communities; Governance, management and sustainability.
People's experience of this service
People told us they felt safe living at Ardent Residential Care Home and said they would feel confident to raise any issues they might have with the registered manager. People told us there were enough staff to meet their needs. However, said they were not offered a range of opportunities tailored to their individual interests and preferences.
