During a routine inspection
The patients we spoke with told us that the staff were helping them in the way they wished. One patient told us that staff 'helped them to cope'. Patients told us they were involved in the way their individual treatment was planned and in decisions about how the ward was run.
The staff told us that whilst the ward currently had a staff vacancy it had not impacted on the care they were able to give. They told us that a newly appointed occupational therapist was having a positive impact on the opportunities available for the patients.
The quality of the care given was being monitored. The trust had carried out a compliance audit and had developed an action plan to put right any shortfalls identified.
The records used by the ward were found to be in good order and were easily located when required.
