During a routine inspection
'Excellent. Tip-top. Top class.'
'The nurses are nice.'
'It [the ward] is very clean.'
'If it [the place the person was going to be transferred to] is anywhere near as nice as have been here, I don't have anything to worry about.'
People's privacy, dignity and independence were respected. We observed staff speaking to people in a respectful manner.
People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. Patients were having their care planned and received the support they required.
People were cared for in a clean, hygienic environment. We noted that some of the floor lino was cracked in places.
There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. When the ward was established it was envisaged as being temporary in nature. This meant it did not have a full permanent staff. It has since been decided to keep the ward open and recruit a permanent staff.
The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.
