During a routine inspection
The registered manager confirmed that three of the people who used the service currently had contact with family members. The other four people who used the service had received telephone calls from relatives enquiring about their health and wellbeing; we saw that these calls had been logged.
Members of staff confirmed that they had received an induction and further training to enable them to do their job. They told us that their jobs 'had been difficult at times' but they had 'more enjoyable than non-enjoyable days' working at the home. Staff confirmed that there 'had been a shortage of staff' but that this 'improved recently, with more regular staff'.
The comments we received about difficulties caused by insufficient numbers of staff were discussed with the registered manager.
They also said that training received had given them the confidence to recognise and take action if they observed any safeguarding incidents. They further said that they believed people who used the service were 'well looked after' and that the home 'provided a good range of activities'.
