When you're using GP services, you'll want to make sure you receive safe, compassionate and high-quality care. We've pulled together some useful tips to help you.
Moving to a new area?
If you are new to an area you can find details of local GP services such as doctors' practices, out-of-hours services and walk-in centres in our online directory of care services.
You can search for services here or or call us on 03000 616161.
You can search any of these services by the name of the service, a place name or your postcode.
Read our inspection reports
After an inspection, we publish findings in a report on our website. You can use these reports to check and compare services in your area.
Our reports examine whether services are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
You can use our reports to find out more about local services and choose the one that is best for your needs.
Compare the ratings of local services
Our ratings are on a four-point scale: outstanding, good, requires improvement, inadequate.
Find services that offer great care in the areas that matter to you
We also look at how specific population groups are rated and give a rating. For instance how well they care for mothers, children and young people, vulnerable older people (over 75s) and people with long-term conditions.
You can use this information to choose a GP service that rates highly on the areas that matter to you.
Give us feedback on your care
We use information from the public to help us monitor services and plan our inspections.
You can give feedback on care using our website, by calling 03000 616161 or emailing enquiries@cqc.org.uk.
