a) Establish an effective system to assess, monitor and mitigate service users’ risks in relation to pressure damage, dehydration, malnutrition and weight loss and identified medical conditions.
b) Review medicine management systems to ensure Medicine Administration Records (MARs) are accurately maintained, medicines are stored safely, protocols are in place for medicines needed as required (PRN) and staff administering medicines are competency checked annually as a minimum in line with NICE guidance. NICE guidance SC1 section 1.17 recommends that these assessments are carried out annually for all staff administering medication.
c) Complete a full audit of the environment, including of all infection control risks and damaged areas of the internal building, and develop an action plan with timescales detailed to complete all improvements required. Any risks identified must be actioned within timescales proportionate to the risk.
d) Establish effective daily checks of the safety and cleanliness of the environment and equipment.

The registered provider must ensure that the regulated activity accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care is managed by an individual who is registered as a manager in respect of that activity at or from all locations.
