We carry out reviews and specific inspection programmes that focus on particular themes or aspects of health and social care – including pathways of care, groups of people or services.
What do we do when we carry out a review?
When we carry out a review, we:
- Agree what we want to find out and describe how our work will help support improvements in care.
- Listen to the experiences of people, their families and carers.
- Collect and review data about the theme we are reviewing.
- Carry out inspections to observe care where appropriate.
- Speak to staff who provide care and also, for some reviews, commissioners of care.
- Analyse the evidence we collect.
- Publish a report of our findings and make recommendations.
- Evaluate the impact of the review.
