People received support from staff who were caring. People were treated with respect and dignity. People received support as an individual. People were supported to manage their health needs. People's independence was promoted. People knew their rights and were supported with these. People had choice and control over their own care and support.

Independence, choice and control

People told us staff were caring. People told us they were supported to remain independent. When asked whether staff treat them as individuals one person commented, "Yes, they do." People were given choice and control over their lives and support. One person told us, "I will explain what I want and they (staff) will make sure they get someone."

Staff treated people with respect and dignity. Staff always knocked on people's doors and waited for a response before entering their rooms. Staff provided people with choice about their daily care and support. Staff interactions were people were kind, compassionate and caring. Staff spoke positively about people.

Care plans recorded how people had been involved in their care planning. People's choice and preferences were included in their care plans. Care plans contained information about people's life histories and social needs. This meant staff were directed to support people as individuals.
